Venice Homes for Sale
Known for it’s bohemian, alternative vibe, Venice (also known as Venice Beach) is a well known beach community in Los Angeles County. It was originally developed as a beach resort designed to pay homage to its Italian namesake with features like canals, piazzas, and pedestrian bridges. The town is now known as an edgy, artsy, stylish beach town with its own distinct culture in Los Angeles.
The boardwalk in Venice Beach is iconic, featured in many films and TV shows, and always an exciting place to people watch. Though you may think of Venice as a quirky beach vacation destination, it is also a great place to call home.
Things to Do in Venice
When you picture walking along the beach in Venice, the image that comes to mind is likely what you will find along the Venice Boardwalk. This vibrant and colorful part of Venice features murals, street performers, and eclectic shops. Though it is a major tourist destination, it’s also a fun place to spend a little time during the day as a Venice resident.
Of course the beach is a major attraction in Venice. Work out at Muscle Beach, or simply enjoy the sun, sand, and surf anywhere along the coastline. Rent a beach cruiser to ride along the beach and take in the scenic location of your new home, where you can comfortably spend time outside nearly every day of the year.
Wander along Abbott Kinney Boulevard (named for the real estate investor who built Venice in the early 1900s) to do some window shopping or, better yet, some actual shopping. A wide variety of boutiques and local businesses are represented, with food trucks parked along the boulevard on the first Friday of each month.
For a perfect cup of coffee, stop by Intelligentsia Coffee Bar, by one of the top roasters in the nation.
If you’re in the mood for a quick and casual lunch, try local favorite Tito’s Tacos. The restaurant was founded in 1959 and has a menu featuring traditional tacos and burritos that regularly make nationwide “best of” lists.
Stop by the Venice location of Los Angeles favorite Salt & Straw Ice Cream for a cone that’s worthy of a spot on your social media feed.
For a more elegant restaurant perfect for a special date night, try Zinqué, where guests enjoy impressive charcuterie boards and French favorites.
Schools in Venice
Venice students have access to excellent public schools through Los Angeles Unified School District, one of the largest and most well resourced districts in the nation, setting the bar for other districts in California.
If you prefer a private education for your students, you will also find a wide range of private schools in the Venice area, including performing arts, STEM, college prep, and religious choices.
Venice Real Estate
Venice is a luxury real estate market, with large waterfront homes that are priced as you would expect in a Los Angeles beach town. You will find both condos and single family homes in Venice, but buildable lots are virtually impossible to come by. If you plan to build a custom home, the best option is to buy a lot that appeals to you and budget for the removal of the existing home. Large single family homes with ocean views in Venice are listed starting around $2 million, with charming older beach houses in the mid $1 million range. Condos in Venice tend to start around $1 million. All Venice property prices will depend significantly on proximity to the water and ocean views.
